Ever wish your notes could disappear after reading? Try this

0

There are special pens and markers available ink that fades over time. Some fade completely within a day or two. Though originally intended for espionage, these work great for everyday note-taking. Just write your note in disappearing ink, read it when needed, and then let the ink slowly vanish so you don’t leave sensitive information lying around. Popular brands are Pilot FriXion, Uni PowerTank, and Jetstream.

Take photos of notes

Using your smartphone camera is an easy way to capture any handwritten information you need to refer to temporarily. Simply snap a photo of your note, and then delete it from your camera roll after reading. It ensures no sensitive data lingers on your device. For added security, enable auto-delete on your camera app so photos automatically get removed after a set period. Just be sure to read the note before your camera roll clears itself!

Use secure digital notes

For those who prefer typing over writing, temporary digital notes may be a better solution. Various secure note-taking apps allow you to set an automatic deletion time for text, photos, and audio – whatever content you need accessible temporarily. After the preset time is reached, the app will permanently shred and remove the note without you having to do anything. Some even let you recover deleted notes just in case. Secure apps like PrivNote, Rumii, and SigmaOS are worth checking out privatenote.io.

Bake it away

Feeling crafty? Make notes on a sheet of sugar paper, and then simply bake it after reading. As the paper dissolves in the oven, your private message will vanish. Just be sure not to bake your notes at too high a temperature, or they may burn before the words dissolve! 250 degrees for 10 minutes should do the trick. For a fun twist, use cookie cutters to shape your sugar paper into hearts or stars before baking.

Type on a wet surface

Here’s one for the ultra-paranoid. Write your top secret note on a wet surface, like the surface of your shower wall. Once dry, the condensed water will evaporate and your message will completely disappear! Just make sure to read your note quickly before the disappearing act. Ceramic surfaces with some water sprayed on work great too. You’ll feel like a spy! Just watch out for sharing too much in this ephemeral format in case someone walks in at the wrong moment.

Use self-deleting messaging

The software allows you to set video or text messages to automatically delete after being viewed. Great for sharing confidential info or just funny memes you want to vanish later. Facebook, Instagram, and Signal all have disappearing messaging features. You also find standalone secure messaging apps focused solely on auto-deleting content like Dust, Telegram, and Confide. Use these to send notes or media you only need temporary access to.

Type password-protected notes

Several popular note-taking apps like Google Keep, Evernote, and OneNote now allow you to set password protection and automated deletion times for individual notes. Simply set a secure password when you create the note, then enable deletion after 1 day, 1 week, etc. The app will permanently remove your note from their servers when time is up without you having to remember to manually delete anything. You even recover deleted notes in case you change your mind.
